The family has established a fund in Bill’s memory at Ochsner. Click here to donate.
After having retired from BellSouth/AT&T as Louisiana’s State President in 2009, Bill was asked to help Ochsner establish their philanthropy division. He met with executive leadership, doctors, and government officials and quickly realized the true value of a gift to Ochsner.
In the last years of his life he found great joy in being part of an organization doing so much to save and improve the lives of those they serve.
In the nine years that he worked with them, Ochsner grew from 12,000 employees to over 26, 000. Bill would often comment on what a treat it was to have a second career in health care. He said recently in a speech, “Ochsner is a great organization serving the citizens of Louisiana, the United States and the World. I can’t believe I have been lucky enough to have been a part of it.“
