Why cardiology?
When his father died suddenly at the young age of 66 to a massive heart attack, Bill Oliver was impacted immediately and spent much of his life learning about cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors.
More recently, Bill had been supporting his wife Carolyn with her diagnoses of atrial fibrillation, more commonly known as Afib. In April 2019, Bill began having life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and was diagnosed with sustained ventricular tachycardia. At that time, Bill was hospitalized at Ochsner for several days. Ochsner’s team of talented medical professionals saved his life and implanted a defibrillator. This treatment and procedure prolonged and improved his quality of life until his tragic accident on June 24, 2019.
Cardiovascular diseases claim more lives each year than all forms of cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease combined. Approximately 92.1 million American adults are living with some form of cardiovascular disease or the after-effects of stroke. Direct and indirect costs of total cardiovascular diseases and stroke are estimated to total more than $329.7 billion. Please help us save more lives and donate to the William A. Oliver Cardiology Fund here!
Inaugural donors will become part of a special memorial group, the King William of Rose Bud Society, in honor of William A. Oliver. We hope you will consider joining this memorial group today by donating now to the William A. Oliver Cardiology Fund.
