King William of Rose Bud

There is a tale that poets sing
About a hillBilly who became a king.
Born in Rose Bud not long ago
Lake Charles is where he would grow.
At LaGrange his clever antics never ceased
And they continued while at McNeese.
In the army he proudly served his tour
But with Procter & Gamble he wasn’t sure.
His path at SCB deserves a mention
From circuit to sales to Republican convention.
His rise was quick with no delay
At Tulane he got his MBA.
His ascent to the throne was becoming evident
When he came to C&EA as vice-president.
His journey towards regal glory
Got even closer in Regulatory.
His grand rapport with the powers-that-be
Showed he had characteristics of nobility.
In Louisiana he continued his royal trek
And was named BellSouth’s chief exec.
As he demonstrated his majestic grace
There were rumors of news in a far-away place.
In 2004 it was proclaimed as law
In D.C. he’d be crowned king of Mardi Gras.
This was real. This was no charade.
Only he could reign on his parade.
With Lady Carolyn at his side
He performed his duties with royal pride.
When asked what he did while on his thrones
He responded with gusto, “I sell phones!”
King William of Rose Bud reigned best of all
And to that we raise our Westerhall.
